Whole-Home Repiping in Delta

Romel knew the Poly B plumbing in his Ladner home needed to be addressed. Like many homeowners in Delta, he had been aware of the risks associated with aging polybutylene piping and decided to move forward with a full replacement before a leak or insurance issue forced his hand. He contacted Urban Piping’s Poly B Replacement Vancouver team to schedule a complete remediation.

Urban Piping’s crew began with thorough site preparation, laying Ram Board to protect tile and hardwood surfaces, carpet liner in high-traffic areas, and plastic sheeting over furniture in work zones. The team carefully cut and saved drywall pieces for reinstallation where possible.

The plumbing scope involved complete removal of all Poly B plumbing throughout the home, replaced with Class A Rehau PEX featuring color-coded hot and cold lines with UV barrier protection. Every fixture received new connections using quality materials: Dahl and BMI shut-off valves for all hot and cold supply lines, braided distribution hoses for faucets and toilets, brass exterior garden faucets, and a city-compliant laundry box setup. Plastic PEX fittings with copper crimp rings ensured secure, lasting connections.

Following the plumbing work, the team completed full drywall repair for all access points created during the repiping. This included boarding, mudding, taping, and texture matching to blend seamlessly with existing ceiling finishes. Paint matching completed the restoration, ensuring repaired areas were indistinguishable from the original surfaces.

A professional-grade 4-stage HEPA air scrubber ran throughout the project to control dust and maintain air quality. The project concluded with removal of all prep materials and construction waste, plus a basic vacuum and wipe-down to restore the home to clean condition.

Delta Homes and Poly B Plumbing

Delta is a city in Metro Vancouver composed of three distinct communities: North Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen. Located south of the Fraser River, Delta offers a mix of suburban neighborhoods, agricultural land, and waterfront properties, all within easy reach of Vancouver and the US border.

The city’s housing stock reflects decades of steady development. About half of Delta’s homes were built between the 1960s and 1980s, with significant additional construction occurring through the 1980s and 1990s. Many condos and townhouses in Ladner date to this era, along with single-family homes on spacious lots throughout the community.

Homes built between 1985 and 1997 were constructed during peak Poly B installation years in British Columbia, when polybutylene was the standard plumbing material for new construction. As these homes approach 30 to 40 years of age, pipe replacement becomes essential for homeowners concerned about leaks, water damage, and maintaining insurance coverage.

Why Delta Homes Need Experienced Contractors

Delta’s diverse housing stock presents various challenges for Poly B replacement projects. Ladner homes range from original properties built in the 1970s and updated over the years to newer developments, each with different access considerations and finishing requirements. These variations can significantly impact project timelines and budgets, leading to discrepancies in the overall cost of Poly B replacement for condos in Vancouver. Additionally, stakeholders must navigate the unique regulatory environments and community standards that apply to different types of residential buildings. As a result, thorough planning and assessment are crucial to ensure effective execution of replacement initiatives across the diverse housing landscape.

Many Delta homes feature finished basements, multiple bathrooms, and textured ceilings that require skill to match after drywall repairs. Older single-family homes often have unique pipe routing based on their original construction, meaning each project requires careful assessment before work begins.

The region’s mild but damp climate also affects aging plumbing systems. While Delta doesn’t experience the extreme cold of Alberta winters, the consistent moisture and temperature variations still contribute to Poly B deterioration over time.

Urban Piping’s full remediation service handles every aspect of the project—from plumbing and drywall to texture matching and paint—ensuring Delta homeowners receive a complete restoration without coordinating multiple contractors.
