About Urban Piping
The Company Graham Drew Built to Solve a Problem No One Else Would
Our Founder's Story
In 2008, Graham Drew was working for a plumbing company when he witnessed something that changed everything.
Day after day, he watched homeowners caught in chaos: Plumbing crews would tear out Poly B piping and leave. Subcontracted drywall teams would patch walls weeks later. Painters would show up even later. Each handoff created delays, miscommunication, and finger-pointing. No one took responsibility for the complete experience.

What haunted Graham most was the homeowners—stressed, confused, living in torn-apart homes for weeks, with nowhere to turn when trades blamed each other.
His solution: create Canada's first company specializing exclusively in Poly B replacement, with all trades in-house and one team accountable for the complete experience.
Friends questioned the strategy. “Why limit yourself to one type of work?”
Graham’s answer: “Because families deserve specialists who perfect one thing rather than generalists who are mediocre at everything.”
With a background in construction and a commitment to doing things properly, Graham made a decision that seemed radical at the time: create Canada’s first company to specialize exclusively in Poly B replacement.
Friends and colleagues questioned the strategy. “Why limit yourself to one type of work?” they asked. Graham’s answer was simple: “Because families deserve specialists who perfect one thing rather than generalists who are mediocre at everything.”
Building Something Different
Graham built Urban Piping around principles the industry ignored
- Fixed pricing when estimates always increased
- 72-hour plumbing completion when projects dragged indefinitely
- In-house restoration when homeowners coordinated multiple trades
- 25-year warranties when most offered minimal coverage
- Official Remediation Certificates that insurance and lenders recognize
- Every system came from one question: "How can we make this better for homeowners?"
- 17 years and 28,000+ projects later, Graham's vision proved right. Urban Piping became Canada's leader in Poly B replacement—not through marketing, but by genuinely solving the problem.

Who We Are Today
A Mission-Driven Company
Graham built Urban Piping around a mission that still drives us every day: eliminate Poly B risk from every Canadian home.
This mission shapes every decision
- Why we offer 25-year warranties (most contractors offer 1-5 years): Because we're committed to long-term protection, not quick profit
- Why we invested in educational content (70+ videos, 100+ articles): Because informed homeowners make better decisions, even if it means they ask harder questions
- Why we pioneered fixed pricing (when estimates make more money): Because homeowners deserve certainty, not surprises
- Why we train constantly (regular workshops, ongoing development): Because excellence requires continuous improvement
The Team Behind the Name
Our Plumbers and Technicians
Urban Piping employs Canada’s most experienced Poly B replacement specialists. These aren’t general plumbers who occasionally do repiping—our crews complete more Poly B replacements in a month than most plumbers do in their entire careers.
But experience alone isn’t what makes our team exceptional. It’s the training.
Every Urban Piping plumber goes through an intensive training process with firsthand experts who understand the unique dynamics of working with different trades. Unlike traditional plumbing training that focuses solely on pipe installation, our program teaches
- Cross-trade coordination: How to work seamlessly with drywall, painting, and restoration teams
- Homeowner-centric thinking: Understanding that the goal isn't just completing your task—it's creating a complete, stress-free experience for the family
- Communication protocols: Ensuring every trade knows what's happening, what's needed next, and how their work affects others
- Quality handoffs: Preparing work so the next phase can proceed smoothly without delays or conflicts
This training philosophy—getting professionals to work together for the homeowner instead of just focusing on their specific task—is what makes the Urban Piping difference.
Graham saw that fragmented, task-focused trades created chaos for homeowners. He built a training system that creates unified teams working toward one goal: your home restored perfectly with minimal disruption.

Our Restoration Specialists
Our restoration teams have mastered the art of making repairs invisible. They’ve matched thousands of textures from every era of Western Canadian construction. They understand they’re not just patching drywall—they’re restoring your home to a condition that makes you forget we were ever there.
More importantly, our restoration specialists are trained to work in lockstep with our plumbing crews. They understand the access points that were necessary, the timeline for completing repairs, and how to sequence their work for fastest completion without sacrificing quality.
Our Project Managers
Behind every successful project are people orchestrating the symphony of trades, timelines, and communication. Our project managers don’t just schedule work—they ensure every trade understands their role in the complete homeowner experience.
They’re trained in Graham’s philosophy: this isn’t about managing tasks, it’s about caring for families going through a stressful situation and ensuring every team member contributes to making it as painless as possible.
Stage-by-Stage Documentation
- Before conditions: Complete documentation of existing Poly B plumbing locations
- During removal: Photos showing complete Poly B extraction from walls, ceilings, and floors
- New installation: Documentation of PEX piping installation and pressure testing
- Restoration progress: Each phase of drywall repair, texture matching, and painting
- Final completion: Detailed photos showing your home restored to pristine condition

Our Track Record
Numbers tell part of our story
- 28,000+ Poly B replacement projects completed since 2008
- A+ BBB rating maintained across all locations with zero unresolved complaints
- Less than 0.5% warranty claim rate on tens of thousands of projects
- Thousands of 5-star reviews from homeowners across Western Canada
- The only company providing Official Remediation Certificates recognized by insurance, lenders, and buyers nationwide But the numbers Graham is proudest of aren't about business success—they're about families protected, stress eliminated, and homes saved from potential catastrophe.

Graham's Vision for the Future
Urban Piping is expanding across Canada, bringing specialized Poly B replacement expertise to new communities. Graham’s goal: ensure every Canadian family has access to the quality and service he built Urban Piping to provide.
We’re growing our team with people who share Graham’s values: care deeply about doing right by homeowners, take pride in excellence, and want to be part of solving a real problem affecting hundreds of thousands of Canadian families.
The mission that drove Graham to start Urban Piping in 2008 continues today: a Canada free from Poly B risk.
There are still hundreds of thousands of homes with Polybutylene plumbing. Families still living with risk they don’t fully understand. Insurance crises still disrupting lives. Real estate transactions still failing because of Poly B.
Graham’s commitment—and ours—is to keep working until every Canadian home is protected.
